- INTRODUCTION
-
- Phonebook Plus extends the functionality of FaxSTF’s phone book by adding
- settings for your current phone environment. After installation, when you print
- your documents from FaxPrint, a “Phonebook Plus” button will be added to the
- bottom of the Print dialog. Click on the “Phonebook Plus” button to set your
- preferences. Please note that Phonebook Plus does not work directly from
- FaxManager nor QuickFax.
-
-
- INSTALLATION
-
- Run the “Phonebook Plus STF” application and select OPEN from the FILE
- menu. Select a COPY of your STF “FaxPrint” driver in the extensions folder of
- your boot drive. The installer will let you know if installation was successful.
-
-
- SETTING UP YOUR PHONEBOOK
-
- With Phonebook Plus installed, setting up your phone book is easy. The correct
- format for phone numbers which should be used is AREA_CODE NUMBER. The addition
- of (), -, or spaces will be ignored by Phonebook Plus, so if you prefer, you can
- make your entries asthetically pleasing, e.g. 603-555-1212 or (603) 555-1212.
-
- In many areas, calls in the same area code may have to be dialed as a long-distance
- number. Phonebook Plus allows you to force a number in the same area code to
- be treated as long distance by prefixing the number with a string of your choice.
- (I recommend ###.) Since I live in southern New Hampshire, the 828 exchange might
- be long distance. I can enter a phone number in the phonebook as ###617-828-5555
- and Phonebook Plus will dial it as if it were long distance.
-
- Phonebook Plus provides four options for dialing:
- 1. Outside line prefix. In many hotels or office environments, you may have to
- dial a group of numbers to reach an outside line, e.g. “9,”. Commas may be
- used for a two-second pause.
- 2. Long distance prefix, i.e. “1-”. This is combined with number one. At work,
- I setup Phonebook Plus for outside line “9,” and no prefix for long distance.
- At home, I setup Phonebook Plus for no outside line prefix and “1-” for
- long distance.
- 3. Local area code. Pretty self-explanatory.
- 4. Force long distance. Inserting this string at the front of the number will
- force the number to be dialed as a long-distance number.

- DISTRIBUTION INFORMATION
-
- Phonebook Plus is Freeware. Online services, bulletin boards, user-groups, and
- non-profit companies and organizations may distribute Phonebook Plus without
- restriction. For-profit companies and organizations which profit from programs
- which I have deemed “free” must request permission by mail (or electronically)
- to distribute Phonebook Plus.
-
- If you find Phonebook Plus useful, why not send me postcard of your place of
- business, hometown, school, or where you most recently vacationed. Bug reports,
- comments, and suggestions are always welcomed.
-
- Enjoy!
